Summary0001746: large files rendered as black video (sound is fine), preview as well
Descriptionlarge MPEG files seem to be causing problems for kdenlive. when previewing in the clip monitor, it seems fine, but the project monitor only shows black, though you can hear the sound. when rendering, every other part renders fine, but anything from this file will render as black video with original sound.
even rendering a small selection within this (using the green bar to set the selection) will have the same results..

please help, without this fixed i cannot progress in editing the files i need to edit (which is the main reason why i use kdenlive)

Steps To Reproduce-create a new project with anything (or nothing) in it..
-add a large file (1hr40mins, for example.. which is 2GB for my MPEG videos)
-try to render it (or a selection within it), or view it in the project monitor
-yell at your computer for having waited 2hrs to render a video with no video
Additional Informationhave not tried if this happens with any type of input file, but i did try different render profiles, from x264 (which works for other stuff) to avi and it happens in all cases..

i am not sure at what size of video this begins to happen, since this (2GB) is the maximum size allowed by fat partitions (and my camera records to a fat-partitioned memory stick) and files of say 5minutes length work fine
i use kdenlive to "sew" together two files with audio (mp3 usually, since wavs dont work) and an image collage between the two for the missing portion of video between one file and the other

pre-rendering to mp4 using avidemux and then using that file works.. so i guess its not a video length issue, but most likely file-size

hope that helps

my guess is that this is a duplicate of issue 0001110, so you will either need to convert your video using Kdenlive's transcode option or use a recent FFmpeg version...

hi, thanks for the response.
for reference, im using ffmpeg-0.6. its as recent as i could get it (from svn i think it was), compiled on the 9th of august... running on ubuntustudio 10.04

it seems that 0001110 was resolved back in 2009 with the released ffmpeg.. unless ive done something wrong somewhere
