Summary0003216: Jog dial needs two buttons for play and pause instead one
DescriptionCurrently, Kdenlive requires users to assign two jog dial buttons for certain dual state actions, for instance: one button for play and a second button for pause (stop). The downside of this approach is that users need to tie up not a single, but two buttons to a toggling state, such as is play/pause.

However, Kdenlive's UI already reflects such toggling states in an optimized manner, as the play button in the project and clip monitors change from play to pause while playing, and back again when pausing. Also, if you look at all the media players, either hardware or software, they all use this optimized play/pause UI meme. So it is a well-established UI design, well established with users everywhere.

It would thus save users a valuable button on their jog dials which they could better use for more functionality by offering a jog dial action "Play/Pause". This new action would complement the existing and separate "Play" and "Pause" actions, which tie up two buttons. In addition, as a user I don't need to reflect anymore which exact button to press depending on whether I'm currently playing a clip or the project or not. At the moment I need to clearly reflect which state Kdenlive is in in order to press the correct button.
