Summary0003292: WebM doesn't play in Firefox (libav issue)
DescriptionMost likely since upgrade to 14.04, which seems to have brought a new libav version, WebM rendered with kdenlive or on the command line with avconv don't play in Firefox 29.0. WebM created with the previous libav version play fine.
Steps To ReproduceRender a video to WebM and play it in Firefox 29.0 by opening the file locally or by using the HTML5 video tag.

Firefox first loads the complete video and then fails to play it.
Additional InformationFailing libav versions:
Writing library: Lavf54.20.3
Writing application: Lavc54.35.0

WebM created with the below previous versions still work:
Writing library: Lavf53.21.1
Writing application: Lavc53.35.0

Current ffmpeg versions that work:
Writing library: Lavf55.37.101
Writing application: Lavf55.37.101

NOTE: The current release (1st of May) of FFmpeg works fine, as well as libav from git.

What is the strategy of kdenlive regarding ffmpeg/libav? Is there a way to tell kdenlive to use a static build of ffmpeg or would it be necessary to manually replace libav with ffmpeg in (k)ubuntu?
